Giving back is one of North Coast Brewing’s core values. We invest over 20% of our profits back into the community every year.

Diversity in Brewing In Summer 2020, we launched the Mark E. Ruedrich North Coast Brewing Diversity Scholarship. Recognizing UC Davis' commitment to inclusion and diversity and its reputation for brewing education, we established a $50,000 endowment to the Master Brewers Certificate Program at UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education to support aspiring brewing professionals.

According to a recent study by the Brewers Association, 89% of brewers and 76% of production staff at the breweries surveyed were white. This scholarship will provide support for entering students who are committed to diversity, have experience and/or understanding of the barriers traditionally faced by people of color and demonstrate a high potential for leadership in promoting cross-cultural understanding in the brewing industry.

This endowment bears the name of our founding brewmaster, Mark Ruedrich, who helped establish the core of North Coast Brewing Co's philanthropic values from the beginning. "I am gratified to be a part of this important step forward," said Ruedrich. "Diversity on every level is all important in our world today and should be fostered and encouraged within the craft brewing industry. This can only lead to richer innovation and creativity."

For more than 25 years, the Master Brewers Certificate Program has been providing students with an in-depth understanding of brewing science and brewery engineering and preparing them to enter the brewing industry with the potential to rise to the highest levels of leadership within it. Music Education North Coast Brewing Co. has a long history with music as an artform and as a performance medium. Since our inception back in 1988, we have always supported music. In fact, the first donation we made to any non-profit was the Mendocino Coast Jazz Society. We continue to support music Education today with proceeds from our Brother Thelonious Belgian-style Abbey Ale, which contributes to the Jazz education programs of the Monterey Jazz Festival. These programs start their outreach in Middle schools, to develop talent for High schools, for collegiate performers and eventually to the professional ranks and to the Main Stage at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Since 2006 we have donated over a million dollars to these efforts. To learn more about the education programs of the Monterey Jazz festival and make your own donation, click here.

Support for Ukraine Have you noticed Old Rasputin wearing a sunflower lately? We wanted to show that North Coast Brewing Co. stands with the people of Ukraine in their fight to keep their independence. To that end, since March we have donated a portion of all the proceeds from the sale of Old Rasputin packages to the following organizations' efforts to help the Ukrainian people: Doctors without Borders and the Ukraine Relief Fund. Please consider making your own donation to help the people of Ukraine, whether to these organizations or an organization of your choosing.
