North Coast Brewing Company took home two new wins from Tastings.com World Beer Championships! Brother Thelonious Belgian style abbey ale received Platinum and Tart Cherry Berliner Weisse received Gold.

Brother Thelonious Belgian style abbey ale received 96 points, a superlative ranking,  in the Belgian style ale category, with judges describing it as “boozy, fruity and interesting” and saying it’s a “deceptively drinkable quad to pair with intensely roasted wild game.”

Jazz legend Thelonious Monk is the inspiration for North Coast Brewing’s Brother Thelonious. With an ABV of over 9%, this strong dark ale is rich and robust. As part of its mission to make the world a better place one pint at a time, North Coast Brewing makes a donation from the sale of every bottle and keg of Brother Thelonious to the Jazz education programs of the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Tart Cherry Berliner Weisse received 90 points in the fruit beer category. Judges loved its “soft, lively, spritzy, fruity sweet light body,” and complimented the “refreshing acidity and balanced berry notes.” North Coast Brewing’s Tart Cherry Berliner Weisse is a limited seasonal release made with the juice of Michigan Montmorency cherries, whose addition softens the lactic finish of the beer and gives it a springtime blush. Tart Cherry is the spring release in North Coast Brewing’s three-part Berliner Weisse series with Passion Fruit-Peach released in the summer and Cranberry-Quince released in the fall.

Internationally recognized, the Tastings.com World Beer Championships is America’s oldest annual international beer competition, dating back to 1994. The World Beer Championships, powered by The Beverage Testing Institute, reviews a different beer category each month, using feedback provided from an exceptional panel of judges with expertise in categories such as beer retail, production, distribution and taste. Beers are blind tasted and judged on a 100-point scale, providing the highest level of control to guarantee beer fans with top quality reviews.
